The 2013 Uganda Cup draws were held yesterday at FUFA House Mengo starting 2:30pm commissioned by FUFA Vice president Administration Eng. Moses Magogo. Fufa Secretary in charge of Competitions Decolas Kiiza gave out guidelines for the draws which included drawing for the preliminary round involving 6 non league teams which have never participated in the Cup.

These were Akapisi, Kyaliwajjala, Kifamba, Beat FM, Green Boys and Azam football teams. Matches that yielded from these teams for preliminary round were;

P1 Kyaliwajjala Vs Kifamba

P3 Green Boys Vs Beat FM

Round of 64

Draws for the main and starting round of the Uganda Cup later followed where a pot containing a mixture of Fufa Super League, Fufa Big League, Fufa Regional Leagues, Fufa District Football Association Leagues (First and Second Division) and None league teams which have at least participated in the Uganda Cup before was fronted on the table.

Cup holders URA FC represented by the Administrator Ali Mwebe, drew an away soft encounter with the winner of preliminary round match P1 hence WP1(Azam FC v Akapisi) will host the cup holders URA FC at this round.

Urafc.co.ug established the details of Azam FC being a non league team participating in village encounters in Bweyogere coached by one Hussein Mbalangu and the team which URA FC extended Charitable coaching day out earlier this season.

Whereas Akapisi team is a football Academy based in Kisaasi and training from East High Secondary School coached by one Paddy Kintu a reknow Local Fufa Coaches Instructor.

The winner from the two teams will host URA FC at dates and venue yet to be communicated by the Organizing Committee.

Round of 16

Secretary Fufa Competitions Committee further tabled a pot for this round containing 32 match numbers of round of 64 from 1-32. The results yielded a total of 16 matches for this round.

Cup holders URA FC drew a home tie against the winner between Corporate 11 and Express FC at Lugazi to be played yet on date to be communicated by the Competitions Committee.

Unlike last years edition sponsored by Bell Lager and hence named Bell Uganda Cup, this years edition do not have sponsors after the 2 year contract between Fufa and Bell for the Cup that started in 2011edition ended in 2012 edition.

Like last years edition where finals between URA FC and Bunamwaya FC now Vipers were played in Pece Stadium Gulu, this years finals are expected in Masindi Municipal Stadium provided that any sponsor come on board with alternative venue being Nakivubo Stadium or Kavumba Recreation Ground in the respective order.

URA FC won the last year’s Cup beating Bunamwaya SC 1-0 in Gulu a goal scored by Robert Ssentongo now with Saint George of Ethiopia.
