URA FC might not have won the FUFA Super 8 pre-season cup but their taking part was of huge impact to try and test the team ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 season.

According to our first assistant coach Fred Muhumuza, not winning the cup isn’t something they will focus on at the moment though it would have been fantastic for the entire team but the experience and exposure garnered will without a doubt be of positive impact ahead of the new season.

“I thank the Federation for putting up such Pre-Season games. It’s a platform that helped us check and evaluate ourselves ahead of the new season especially with many new players including a number of youths which will help us alot in the new season.”

He explained to the club Media before adding.

“We would have loved to win it especially for our fallen coach Sam Timbe (RIP) and it didn’t come our way but going forward the positives we picked up will be key in the new season.”

It should be noted that the Tax Collectors played three games in the FUFA Super 8 cup that started with a 2-1 victory against Soltilo Bright Stars in the quarter final, 1-2 victory at KCCA FC in the semi final before unluckily falling to Bul 3-1 in penalties following a barren stalemate in normal time.

Now all focus and attention is on the Startimes Uganda Premier League 2023/24 season with our first game to be played on Friday 15th September 2023 against UPDF FC at Bombo barracks grounds.
