Playing for the national team is everyone’s dream no matter the level and doing it at the senior level is a moment worth celebrating and framing in one’s heart forever and ever.

Following years of total hard work, prayer, patience, character and persistence, utility player Hudu Mulikyi finally got his prayer and dream realised as he was summoned for national duty ahead of Uganda Cranes two high profile international friendly matches against Mali in Bamako and Zambia in Dubai on 13th and 17th October 2023 respectively.

From Maroons FC to URA FC in 2016, the hardworking player has been outstanding every season with remarkable consistent displays but had to wait more longer to get his dream moment.

Such a moment has been in Mulikyi’s mind ever since he embarked on his football career, even when he felt he had put up great performances and not considered, it never put him off truck but rather motivated him to work harder waiting for his time.

“Earning my maiden call up to the national team really something big in my life. It’s what I have been fighting for in my career though on many occasions I was disappointed but it made me to remain working hard while hoping for the dream moment to come.”

He told the club website.

On further making the final squad for the two international build up games, he added.

“I feel proud of my self to make the final squad and being around top players to represent my country. I hope and pray I get a chance to play so that I can show my ability at such a level.”

Grateful for URA FC for the platform.

“In a special way, I thank my club URA FC for the trust and believing in me. That’s the reason I am here.”

He continued.

Coach Fred Muhumuza, skipper Enock Walusimbi and midfielder Laban Tibiita are the other Tax Collectors waiving our flag on the national team ahead of the two international friendly matches.
