URA FC 1-0 Wakiso Giants

Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored the only but important goal awarding us maximum points on Saturday.

URA FC registered a 1-0 victory against Wakiso Giants in the Uganda PremierLeague at Metha Stadium, Lugazi.

We returned to winning ways after sharing spoils in a 1-1 draw against Bright Stars away from home.

The game started on a slow note but later gained the required tempo as minutes unfolded.

Ahimbisibwe ’The Hunter’ nearly gave us the lead in the 8th minute after being set up by Norman Namanya but failed to find the target.

We kept pressing seeking for an opener but Joseph Semujju failed to guide the ball into an empty net after Ahimbisibwe had done the dirty work.

After the first 45 minutes, the score was still goalless as both teams walked into the dressing rooms.

Two minutes after the long break, Ahimbisibwe nearly gave us a well deserved lead after earlier wasting a number of chances.

It was a well guided volley that squeezed through a forest of bodies after a poor clearance by Wakiso Giants’ backline.

At the top of the hour, we nearly doubled the lead through Namanya but the visitors’ custodian Bashir Sekagya pushed it away.

We ended the game with great emotions as Viane Sekajugo made a return on the green after a long time in the sickbay.

We are now sixth on the log with eight points after four games into the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League campaign and we visit Maroons FC next on Friday 27th at Luzira prison ground.
