Startimes Uganda Premier League

Full Time Results.

URA FC secured a 1-0 victory against UPDF FC last evening at Mehta stadium Lugazi in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

The day’s skipper Viane Ssekajugo’s 60th-minute header from a Laban Tibiita corner was all that the Tax Collectors needed to secure maximum points that also confirmed their back to back wins for the first time this season.

Head coach David Obua made two changes from the previous XI against Gaddafi FC introducing Godfrey Sekibengo and Moses Aliro.

As predicted by Obua in the Pre-Match interview, the game was tricky and cagey as the Army side put up a resilient show all through out and came close to scoring in both halves but custodian Rogers Omedwa and the entire backline of Enock Walusimbi, Amis Bwangani and James Begisa and Ssekajugo was alert to truck down the visitor’s attacks.

Begisa, Aliro, Tibiita and Namanya all had attempts but were unlucky before Ssekajugo broke the deadlock, rising high to nod in a Tibiita corner in the 60th minute.

Bangwani who was against deployed in central defense was again booked for a foul on an opponent.

Obua made a couple of changes in the final half with Ahimbisibwe, Kisiriko, and Bunyaga coming on for Sekibengo, Aliro and Tibiita.

URA FC moved to 6th place with 27 points from 17 games. Their next challenge awaits at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium against Wakiso Giants on Tuesday, 13th February 2024.
