Tax collectors begin new campaign in barren stalemate against Onduparaka

Uganda Revenue Authority began their 2022/23 Startimes Uganda Premier League season with a barren stalemate at home to Onduparaka FC on Saturday 1st October 2022.

Head coach Sam Timbe handed debuts to five players with the fox Derrick Nsibambi, full backs James Begisa and Eric Senjobe starting before Salim Abdallah and George Ssenkaba came on in the second half..

The tax collectors had a number of numerous chances with the best coming in the 14th minute when Joachim Ojera combined well with Saidi Kyeyune before his effort rattled the cross bar.

Before, custodian Nafian Alionzi had pulled off a save to deny the visitors.

Nsibambi and Sekajugo also got chances to break the deadlock but had their efforts tamed.

With seven minutes to the end of the first stanza, Begisa calmly controlled along pass in the box and laid in well calculated cut back for Sekajugo to score but this was surprisingly ruled out by the assistant referee.

Timbe made a number of changes in the second stanza in search for a goal with Salim Abdallah, George Senkaaba, Kabon Living and Ibrahim Dada all coming on at different intervals for Kyeyune, Kagimu, Ojera and Sekajugo.

Najib Fesali and Abdallah both came close to scoring but were unlucky.

The result means the tax collectors picked a point at home and will be aiming to build on it in their second match when they visit Express FC on Saturday 08th October at Muteesa ll stadium, Wankulukuku.

Fesali who was outstanding in defense was named Man Of the match.
