URAFC has officially entered a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hema Beverages, through its flagship brand Hema Water slated to span for a whopping two years.
This deal, which promises to change the outlook of the club in terms of partnerships, but also pave the way for more, was made public knowledge at the URA Headquarters. At a function held on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022.
The URAFC CEO, Henry Mayeku commenced his speech by highlighting the importance of having Hema Water as our Beverage partner.
“This partnership will help us achieve a lot as a club going forward. We as a club are committed to working hand in hand with various organisations and having Hema Water on board speaks directly to this,” he made mention.
Sandeep Reddy, the operations director of Hema Beverages limited also applauded the move and appealed to other different companies to jump on board in support of local sports, adding that Uganda has lots of talent in different sports.
“We are grateful for the leadership of football in this country that is focused on the game and the talent of the Ugandan Youth to compete professionally on both the local and international levels,” stated Sandeep.
“We call upon other private sectors to come and support Sports in Uganda, a country that is blessed with many talented sportsmen and women,” he added.
This particular partnership will see Hema provide high-quality water to the team on matchdays, training sessions and other logistical support in all URA FC events to enable the team to complete the season successfully.
It is important to note that Hema Water was sponsoring URAFC between the period of 2015 to 2017, but after the expiry of the deal, it was not renewed. It is only now that the two have decided to renew the partnership.
Meanwhile, URA will have their jersey sleeves having the Hema Water logo starting the next round of the league and other Cup competitions except for CAF competitions. This will be in order to promote their brand.
Speaking and explaining this further, the URA FC chairman, Micah Gaalya Samwel also followed suit and highlighted the importance for Hema Water to come on board as partners and also committed to speaking about the feasibility of this partnership.
“Hema has been part of us for many years now and I am happy that we still work with them. We have more plans and I can promise you that this isn’t the only partnership. We still have like three more to come,” he highlighted.
He also spoke about the club’s plan to have a stadium where he said; “In about two years we shall have a stadium-ready, our plan is to put up a playing surface first and we can have it completed later.”
The URA Commissioner Corporate Services, Richard Kariisa, who represented the Commissioner-General (CG) also welcomed Hema Beverages on board and promised them a good value addition throughout the longevity of their partnership.
“It has always been our target to make URAFC sustainable by getting its own partners who can inject in money to supplement what the authority offers them,” Kariisa highlighted.
“I am happy that today we have taken a step closer to achieving that by adding Hema Beverages Limited on board as our partners.”
Hema Water comes back home to a place they are familiar with. We hope that the next three years of partnership will be one to cherish.
