URA FC have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of promising custodian Khasim Hafizi from Express FC on a two-year contract.
Hafizi joins the Tax Collectors after an impressive spell with the Red Eagles last season, where his performances earned him regular involvement between the posts and the responsibility of captaining the side on several occasions.
The shot-stopper brings composure, confidence and good distribution to the URA FC goalkeeping department, qualities that the club believes will add valuable competition and depth ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Speaking after completing his move, Hafizi expressed his delight at joining URA FC and vowed to work harder to justify the club’s faith in him.
“I am very happy to join URA FC. It is a big opportunity for me and I am grateful to the club for believing in me. I know what is expected of me and I am ready to work hard, learn and give my best every day.”
The 2026/27 campaign will also see Hafizi compete for the starting goalkeeping position alongside Chrispas Kusiima, Muhammad Ssekeba and Abdul Magada, setting up healthy competition within the department.
Hafizi is fully aware of the challenge ahead but believes competition among the goalkeepers will ultimately benefit both the players and the team.
“I am aware of the competition in goal because URA FC already has good goalkeepers. For me, that is healthy competition. It pushes everyone to work harder and improve, and I believe it will help me become a better goalkeeper.”
He also highlighted his desire to quickly adapt to his new surroundings and contribute to the club’s ambitions.
“I have come here with a lot of ambition. I want to work hard, support my teammates and contribute whenever I get the opportunity. My focus is to keep improving and help the team achieve its targets.”
Hafizi becomes another addition to a URA FC squad for a fresh challenge in the 2026/27 Startimes Uganda Premier League campaign, with the club looking to build a competitive team capable of pushing for better results.
His arrival provides head coach Jimmy Kintu with another option in goal while increasing competition for places in a department that already boasts considerable depth.
The club welcomes Hafizi to the Tax Collectors family and wishes him success as he begins a new chapter of his career.
