URA FC is delighted to announce the return of experienced tactician Sam Ssimbwa as the club’s new Head Coach on a one-year contract, renewable, replacing Jimmy Kintu Mwera.
Fondly known as “Omulangira,” Ssimbwa returns to familiar surroundings after previously managing the Tax Collectors between 2018 and 2021, a period during which he came close to guiding the club to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title in the 2020/21 season, finishing second behind Express FC.

His return marks the beginning of a new chapter as URA FC seeks to strengthen its campaign and improve its fortunes in the ongoing 2026/27 season.
Ssimbwa brings a wealth of coaching experience, having previously handled several clubs, including Express FC, KCCA FC, SC Villa, Kitara FC, Tusker FC, Simba SC, Sofapaka and the now-defunct SC Victoria University.
He also served as an assistant coach of the Uganda Cranes before leaving the national team setup in November 2025.
The experienced tactician is expected to immediately take charge of the team, beginning work this evening as URA FC host UPDF FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The club will announce Ssimbwa’s backroom staff in due course.
Welcome back to the Tax Collectors, Omulangira!
