URA FC officially kicked off their 2023/24 Startimes Uganda Premier League season with a barren stalemate at UPDF FC on Sunday afternoon in Bombo.

The Tax Collectors had a number of chances in either stanzas to kill off the game but were unlucky not to bury them off.

In the first half, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Hudu Mulikyi and Joshua Letti Lubwama all had attempts at the opponents goal but were denied by our former goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa and defender Bright Vuni at different intervals.

The second half saw coach Fred Muhumuza make a quick change with Shariph Kimbowa coming on for Laban Tibiita.

This meant change in tactics with two strikers upfront, Ahimbisibwe inclusive.

At this time, the Tax Collectors were pressing for a goal from all corners but still couldn’t find it.

More changes were made with Emmanuel Oketch and Norman Namanya coming on for Aliro and Kalega before the final one in the closing stages of the game that saw Kabonge take Kyeyune’s place in the dieing minutes of the match.

Kimbowa, Namanya, Oketch and Ahimbisibwe had chances to kill off the game but were denied to ensure points are shared.

URA FC will return to action on Friday 22nd at Mehta stadium Lugazi against Gaddafi FC.
