Esther Nantongo is a promising Ugandan women’s football goalkeeper currently representing URA Ladies FC. She has emerged as one of the notable young goalkeepers in Ugandan women’s football through strong performances at school, club and national-team level.
Nantongo enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season with URA Ladies FC, helping the team win the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League and secure promotion to the 2026/27 FUFA Women Super League. URA Ladies completed the campaign unbeaten and defeated Jinja United WFC 1–0 in the playoff final.
Her performances throughout the campaign earned her the Golden Glove Award as the best goalkeeper of the 2025/26 FUFA Women Elite League. The recognition underlined her contribution to URA Ladies’ successful title-winning and promotion campaign.
Nantongo has also demonstrated her goalkeeping ability in school football with Kawempe Muslim Secondary School. At the 2026 USSSA Kampala Zone qualifiers, she was named the Girls’ Football Golden Glove winner, while Kawempe Muslim SS emerged among the qualifying teams for the national championships.
Her development has also brought her into Uganda’s senior women’s national-team environment. FUFA included Esther Nantongo in the provisional Crested Cranes squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ethiopia, although at the time she was listed as a Gold Star FC midfielder, indicating some inconsistency between public records concerning her playing position.
