Soltilo Bright Stars FC 0-1 URA FC
Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s first-half strike from a Moses Aliro cross secured URA FC their first win of the 2024/25 season with a 1-0 victory over Soltilo Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation Ground.
The Tax Collectors dominated from the onset, showing attacking intent after their opening day loss to KCCA FC.
Coach Alex Isabirye, keen to bounce back handed debuts to Isma Mugulusi and Abraham Tusubira.
Mugulusi impressed, controlling the midfield with his creativity while new additions from the previous starting line up against KCCA FC Hudu Mulikyi, Faizal Matovu and Emmanuel Okech also featured.
Bright Stars pushed hard for an equalizer in the second half but URA goalkeeper Derrick Ochan made crucial saves to deny efforts from Nelson Ssenkatuka, Noordin Bunjo and Marvin Youngman.
Substitutions from both sides followed with URA bringing on Bruno Bunyaga and Joseph Semujju early in the second half. Later, George Masembe and Laban Tibiita replaced the injured Mulikyi and Mugulusi helping URA hold onto their lead.
URA FC who moved to three points will look to build on this victory when they host Mbarara City on September 28, 2024 at Nakivubo Stadium.
