URA FC roving right back James Begisa has expressed immense delight after finally returning to competitive action following a three-month injury layoff, describing his comeback as an emotional and motivating moment despite the Tax Collectors’ 3-0 home loss to Vipers SC over the weekend.
Begisa, who only resumed full training a week ago, was introduced in the 77th minute to replace Hudu Mulikyi, marking his first appearance since suffering a frightening head injury in October 2025 in their 1-1 draw against NEC FC.
While the result at Nakivubo was disappointing, the defender’s return was one of the few positives for URA FC on the day.
“Stepping back on the pitch meant everything to me. The last three months have been tough, but I thank God for life and for giving me strength to come back. I am grateful to the club management, my teammates, the medical team at St Catherine Hospital, my family and everyone who stood with me during the hardest moment,” Begisa said.
The dependable defender had been sidelined after sustaining a serious head collision in stoppage time during URA FC’s league match against NEC FC in October 2025.
The incident left him with a severe forehead concussion that required immediate medical attention before he was rushed to St Catherine Hospital for further tests, including a CT scan to rule out internal complications.
After successfully passing all medical assessments, Begisa was cleared to return and has since rejoined full training with the rest of the squad — a development that has been welcomed by head coach Hussein Mbalangu and the technical team, given the defender’s importance to the side both at club level and on national duty.
Despite URA FC’s current struggles, Begisa remains optimistic and has rallied his teammates to fight their way out of danger.
“This is not the position URA FC belongs to. We must stay together, fight for each other and believe in the work the technical team is doing. If we remain united and focused, I strongly believe we shall get ourselves out of this situation,” he added.
URA FC are currently 12th on the table with 11 points from 13 games and are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.
However, they have a chance to respond immediately when they travel to Yumbe to face bottom-placed Calvary FC tomorrow, Tuesday.
Begisa is expected to start the crucial encounter as the Tax Collectors look to reignite their campaign, with his return seen as a major morale boost to a squad desperate to get back to winning ways.
His resilience and recovery mark not only a personal victory, but also a timely lift for URA FC as they seek to turn their season around.
