Tax Collectors Open New Campaign on the Road
URA FC begin their 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign this Sunday, August 30, when they visit Maroons FC at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
The opening fixture kicks off at 4:00pm EAT and will mark the beginning of a new chapter for the Tax Collectors under head coach Jimmy Kintu.
After weeks of preparation ahead of the new season, URA FC will be looking to translate their work on the training ground into a positive result as they take their first step in the new league campaign.
Kintu Calls for Strong Start
For new head coach Jimmy Kintu, starting the season on a winning note is a priority. The coach believes a positive result in the opening fixture can provide confidence and momentum for the matches ahead.
“We are ready for the challenge ahead and the boys are looking forward to getting onto the pitch and competing. Starting the season with a win is very important because it gives us confidence, momentum and a strong foundation for the games ahead,” Kintu said.
The coach has also urged URA FC supporters to turn up in numbers and provide the team with the backing needed during the opening encounter.
“I call upon our fans to come out in big numbers and rally behind the team. Your support gives the players extra motivation, and we want you to come and enjoy good, entertaining football from URA FC,” he added.
Kintu insists his players will give their maximum effort as they seek to begin the campaign with three points.
“We shall give our best, fight for the result and make sure we start this campaign on a winning note.”
Aliro: We Believe in the Team
URA FC captain Moses Aliro will be expected to provide leadership and experience as the Tax Collectors begin the new campaign.
The skipper has expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and believes the players are ready to compete for a positive result against Maroons.
“We have worked hard in preparation for this season and we know that the first game is important. As players, we are ready to give everything for the team and fight for a positive result,” Aliro said.
“We believe in ourselves and in the work we have done. The important thing is to stay focused, play for each other and give our best from the first whistle to the last. We want to start strongly and make our supporters proud.”
A Competitive Opening Test
Sunday’s encounter provides URA FC with a challenging start away from home, with Maroons expected to make full use of their home advantage.
Recent meetings between the two sides have produced competitive encounters, making another closely fought contest likely when they meet in Wankulukuku.
For URA FC, however, the focus will be on their own performance and executing Kintu’s plans on the pitch.
The opening fixture will also offer the new technical team an early opportunity to assess the squad in a competitive league environment and begin building momentum for the long season ahead.

With the new season finally underway, URA FC will be aiming to make an immediate statement by collecting maximum points.
