Matchday: Three

Venue: Katusabe Grounds, Masindi

The Tax Collectors visit Masindi seeking a second consecutive victory in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.

URA Ladies FC will be aiming to build on their impressive start to life in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League when they visit Lady Doves FC on Sunday in Matchday Three at Katusabe Grounds, Masindi.

The Tax Collectors head into the encounter buoyed by a 2-0 victory over SHE-MAK in their previous league outing, a result that earned them their maiden win in the top-flight competition and boosted their confidence ahead of the trip to Masindi.

Having secured their first three points of the campaign, head coach Moses Nkata’s charges will be eager to maintain their momentum and register consecutive victories as they continue adjusting to the demands of the top tier.

However, they face a challenging assignment against a Lady Doves side that will be equally determined to turn around its fortunes.

The hosts are still searching for their first victory of the season and will be keen to capitalise on home advantage to get their campaign on track.

Nkata Confident Ahead of Masindi Test

URA Ladies head coach Moses Nkata believes his team has prepared adequately for the encounter, with the recent break providing an opportunity to work on key areas and further improve the squad’s understanding of his tactical approach.

Nkata acknowledges the quality and experience of their opponents, who have previously won the league, but remains confident that the Tax Collectors can overcome the challenge if they execute their game plan.

“We have prepared well for this game, and the break has been important for us because it has given us more time to work with the players, correct some of the mistakes we identified and fine-tune the team,” Nkata said.

“Lady Doves are a good side with experience in this league, and we know that playing them away from home will not be easy. However, we are ready for the challenge, and our focus is on going there, competing well and getting a positive result.”

The coach also revealed that URA Ladies will be without a few players who are currently sitting their examinations, but insists the available squad has enough depth to cope with their absence.

“We have a few players who will miss this game because they are candidates and are sitting their examinations. We respect their academic commitments, but we have other players who are ready to step in and do the job. We trust the entire squad, and whoever gets the opportunity must be ready to give their best for the team,” he added.

With competition for places continuing to grow within the squad, the encounter will offer other players an opportunity to demonstrate their readiness to contribute as URA Ladies seek to establish consistency in their maiden top-flight campaign.

Namuleme Calls for Fighting Spirit

URA Ladies captain Zaina Namuleme has challenged her teammates to approach the contest with determination and maintain their concentration from the opening whistle until the final moments.

The skipper believes the team has made encouraging progress under the technical team and has credited the coaches for their continued efforts to improve the players individually and collectively.

“We know it will be a tough game because Lady Doves are a good team, especially playing at their home ground. But we have prepared well, and we must go into the game with the right mentality, fight for every ball and support one another throughout the match,” Namuleme said.

“We cannot afford to switch off at any moment. We need to start strongly from the first minute, remain focused and keep fighting until the final whistle. Our target is to get the result we want, and that will require every player to give her best.”

The captain also praised the technical team for the work being done to strengthen the squad and improve the players’ performances as they adapt to the demands of the top division.

“The coaches have been doing a great job with us, helping us improve our understanding of the game, our discipline and the way we play as a team. We are learning every day, and we appreciate the effort they are putting into us. As players, we have to respond by working hard, believing in ourselves and delivering on the pitch,” she added.

A Battle of Contrasting Ambitions

Sunday’s encounter presents both sides with different objectives but an equally strong desire to collect maximum points.

Lady Doves will be hoping to make the most of their home advantage and secure their first win of the campaign, while URA Ladies are determined to build on their victory over SHE-MAK and demonstrate that they can compete consistently at the highest level of women’s football in Uganda.

For the Tax Collectors, another positive result would provide a further boost to their confidence and strengthen their early-season momentum as they continue their journey in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.

With Nkata’s side having used the break to fine-tune their preparations and Namuleme urging her teammates to maintain their fighting spirit, URA Ladies will travel to Masindi determined to turn their preparations into another strong performance.

URA Ladies FC will now look to deliver on the pitch, overcome the challenge posed by the former champions and return home with maximum points.
