Goalkeeper Abdu Magada Delighted with Winning Debut in 2-0 Triumph Over Kitara FC

URA FC’s promising young goalkeeper Abdu Magada couldn’t hide his excitement after making a memorable debut in the Tax Collectors’ 2-0 home victory over Kitara FC. The match played on Friday at Nakivubo Stadium, marked the club’s first home win of the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.

Goals from Shariph Kimbowa and Ivan Ahimbisibwe from the spot secured the three points on match day 7, pushing URA FC to 6th place with 11 points from seven games.

Magada, who joined URA FC from Gaddafi FC during the summer transfer window was called into action in the 27th minute when Derrick Ochan picked up an injury.

Despite the unexpected early substitution, the young custodian showcased impressive composure and awareness. His timely clearances and confident presence between the posts helped URA FC keep a clean sheet, adding to the team’s morale in a pivotal match.

Reflecting on his debut, Magada spoke with the club’s media team and expressed his delight at helping the team secure a home victory.

“I’m very happy to have made my debut in such an important match and even happier that we won,” he said.

“I have been working hard in training and this experience motivates me to keep pushing for more opportunities. I’m grateful to my teammates and coaches for their support and trust right from the moment I stepped onto the pitch.” He added.

Magada, who also serves as Uganda’s U20 first-choice goalkeeper further highlighted the team’s spirit and unity as key factors in their performance.

With his strong debut, he has undoubtedly left a positive impression on both his coaches and teammates.

URA FC will look to build on this win as they prepare for their next match against Maroons FC on Saturday, November 10, 2024, in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League match day 8 encounter.
