URA FC delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, dispatching Express FC with a resounding 5-0 victory in the Nakivubo Stadium derby.
With both teams currently using Nakivubo as their home ground, the fixture carried extra significance and it was the Tax Collectors who asserted their authority in style.
Talismanic forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe was the star of the show, netting a sensational hat trick to guide URA FC to one of their biggest wins of the season. Faizo Matovu and substitute Norman Namanya also got on the scoresheet to complete the rout.
Ahimbisibwe opened the scoring in the 31st minute, rising high to head home a pinpoint cross from roving right-back James Begisa. He then doubled his tally just nine minutes into the second half, punishing a disorganized Express defense.
Norman Namanya, introduced at halftime for Nicholas Kabonge, wasted no time making an impact. The young midfielder struck URA’s third goal in the 56th minute, stretching the lead beyond Express’ reach.
Matovu then added flair to the scoreline, curling a sublime free-kick directly into the top corner in the 71st minute. And with just two minutes left on the clock, Ahimbisibwe sealed his hat trick — taking his league tally to 12 goals for the season.
The emphatic result sees URA FC consolidate their fourth place on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 49 points, while Express FC remain eighth with 39 points.
