Disan Galiwango Is a Tax Collector

URA FC have completed the signing of experienced left back Disan Galiwango from Tanzanian Premier League side Dodoma Jiji.

Galiwango has put pen to paper on a two-year contract, becoming the club’s second mid-season acquisition after Moses Waiswa.

Formerly a “Venom”, the Ugandan international now joins the Tax Collectors as the club strengthens its squad for the second half of the campaign.

The talented defender arrives with a winning pedigree, having enjoyed a highly successful three-year spell at Vipers SC between 2020 and 2023, where he lifted two Uganda Premier League titles and two Uganda Cups.

His addition brings not only quality on the left flank but also leadership and a championship mentality to the URA FC dressing room.

A Journey Built on Growth and Experience

Galiwango’s football journey began at Rifo Soccer Academy before he earned a move to Simba SC at the start of the 2015/16 season. Following Simba’s relegation, he joined The Saints FC, where he spent the entire 2016/17 campaign.

In January 2018, he moved to Water FC for a short stint before sealing a transfer to Express FC in August 2018. His impressive performances at Express over two seasons earned him a switch to Vipers SC, where he firmly established himself as one of the league’s most reliable left backs.

After leaving Vipers, Galiwango ventured abroad, joining Kagera Sugar in Tanzania in July 2023 before signing for Dodoma Jiji in August 2024 in the same league.

He mutually agreed to terminate his contract six months before its expiry, paving the way for his return to Uganda with URA FC.

Filling a Crucial Role

At URA FC, Galiwango is expected to slot into the left back position, which has seen Amis Bwangani, Shafiq Lugoloobi, and Faisal Matovu all loaned out earlier this season. His versatility also allows him to operate further up the flank when required.

Galiwango Speaks: “This Is a New Challenge I’m Ready For”
Speaking after completing his move, Galiwango expressed his delight at joining the Tax Collectors:
“I’m extremely happy to join URA FC. This is a club with clear ambitions and a strong identity. I’ve come here ready to work hard, help the team improve, and give my very best for the badge. I believe my experience can help us achieve our targets this season and beyond.”

Mbalangu: “His Character Will Lift the Team”

URA FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu welcomed the defender, highlighting the impact Galiwango is expected to make both on and off the pitch:

“Disan is a proven winner. He brings experience, professionalism, and a strong mentality into the squad. These are the qualities we need at this stage of the season to stabilize the team and push forward. His presence will be key as we work to turn our performances into consistent results.”

Welcome to the Tax Collectors family, Disan Galiwango!
