URA FC players Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Moses Aliro delivered standout performances for the Uganda Cranes Select side, contributing crucial goals in a commanding 4-0 victory over the Northern Region Select side on Thursday during the regional tour match at the fully packed Apac Booma playground.
The match kicked off with early dominance from the Cranes Select side captained by URA FC’s new signing Isma Mugulusi.
Mugulusi set the tone for the evening by assisting the first goal in the 16th minute which was expertly finished by Henry Kitegenyi.
John Innocent Kisolo, another URA FC player earned a spot in the starting lineup and put in a solid performance reinforcing the team’s midfield.
In the second half, the floodgates opened as Ivan Ahimbisibwe doubled the lead with a well-taken goal in the 50th minute.
Just seven minutes later, Moses Aliro also found the back of the net with a calm finish after a solo run from the middle of the pack.
Joseph Akandwanaho rounded off the scoring to ensure a comfortable victory for the Cranes Select side.
Other URA FC players also contributed to the victory with Amis Bwangani, Godfrey Ssekibengo, Hudu Mulikyi and goalkeepers Derrick Ochan and Abdu Magada all getting valuable minutes on the pitch.
With this impressive win the Cranes select side now shift their focus to the upcoming FUFA Super 8 third-place playoff encounter against Kitara FC, scheduled for Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the MTN Omondi stadium.
