URA FC have been handed a high-stakes quarterfinal tie against KCCA FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup following the draw conducted on Thursday morning at the Plascon Head Offices in Namanve.
The draw, overseen by Plascon Managing Director Santosh Gumte alongside FUFA Competitions Director Aisha Nalule and USPA President Moses Alsayeed Lubega, sets up an exciting showdown with the Tax Collectors hosting the Kasasiro Boys at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
URA FC progressed to this stage in convincing fashion, comfortably dispatching Tapoh FC 3-0 in the Round of 16, while KCCA FC were equally dominant, thrashing Onduparaka FC 5-0 to book their place in the last eight.
Elsewhere in the draw, defending champions Vipers SC face a tricky away fixture against NEC FC at Lugogo. The Venoms cruised past Iganga United 4-0, while NEC FC edged Lugazi FC 2-0 to advance.
In another tie, record champions SC Villa will travel to Kassanda to take on Happy Boys Kagaba after narrowly overcoming Maroons FC 1-0. Happy Boys also progressed with a slim 1-0 win over Six O’clock FC.
The final quarterfinal fixture will see Kitara FC host Express FC at The Royals Park in Hoima. Kitara FC were ruthless in a 6-0 victory over Bunyaruguru United, while Express FC secured a 4-0 win against Red Devo.
All quarterfinal matches are scheduled to be played between 1st and 6th April, pending final confirmation. In case of a draw after normal time, matches will proceed to extra time and, if necessary, penalties to determine the winner.
