URA Ladies FC have received a major boost ahead of their maiden FUFA Women Super League campaign after influential midfielder Elizabeth Nakigozi committed her future to the club by signing a new two-year contract.
Nakigozi’s extension comes at a crucial time for the Tax Collectors as they prepare to compete among Uganda’s top women’s football clubs for the first time following a remarkable promotion campaign.
The experienced player was an integral part of the URA Ladies FC side that secured promotion to the Women’s Super League last season after winning the FUFA Women’s Elite League title unbeaten scoring seven goals in all competitions with two Woman of the match accolades.
Her decision to continue with the club provides URA Ladies FC with valuable continuity, experience and leadership as they embark on what promises to be a historic 2026/27 season.
Nakigozi Chooses Continuity
The midfielder expressed her delight at renewing her contract and thanked the club management for the confidence and trust placed in her.
Nakigozi believes the new deal gives her an opportunity to continue contributing to the growth and success of the team, while also helping URA Ladies FC establish themselves at the highest level of women’s football in the country.
“I am very happy and grateful to the club management for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to continue with URA Ladies FC. It means a lot to me to be part of this team and to continue the journey we started together,” Nakigozi said.
“We achieved something special last season by winning the Elite League unbeaten and earning promotion. Now we have an even bigger challenge ahead of us, and I am ready to work harder, support my teammates and give my best to help the team achieve its targets in the Super League.”
The new contract also allows Nakigozi to build on the progress made during the club’s promotion-winning campaign, while playing an important role in the team’s transition to the top flight.
Experience to Be Key in the Super League
Having previously featured in the FUFA Women Super League, Nakigozi is no stranger to the demands and competitiveness of the country’s top women’s football division.
The midfielder believes that her experience, combined with the quality within the URA Ladies FC squad, will be important as the Tax Collectors seek to make a strong impression in their debut season.
“I have played in the Women Super League before, so I understand that the level and competition will be different. That experience will help me, but I also believe we have a very good group of players who are hungry to compete,” she added.
“We will have to remain disciplined, work together and believe in ourselves. If we stay united and continue working hard, I believe we can achieve what we set out to do.”
Nakigozi’s leadership will therefore be particularly valuable to a squad preparing for a new level of competition, where consistency and adaptability will be essential.

URA FC Chief Executive Officer Allan Munaaba welcomed Nakigozi’s renewal, describing the extension as an important step in the club’s preparations for the new season.

Nakigozi’s renewal is part of a wider recruitment and retention strategy by URA Ladies FC as the club prepares for its historic top-flight debut.
The Tax Collectors have already added quality to the squad with the signing of defender Patience Nabulobi and midfielder Shanusa Najjuma both from Kampala Queens FC.
