URA FC head coach Alex Isabirye has urged his squad to remain focused and avoid complacency as they take on FUFA Big League side Kataka FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16.
With a quarterfinal spot on the line, URA FC aims to join fellow Uganda Premier League sides SC Villa, Police, KCCA, BUL, and defending champions Kitara FC in the next stage. However, Isabirye, a multiple Uganda Cup winner with URA, BUL, and Vipers, is wary of the threat posed by their lower-tier opponents.
“There is not much difference between us and them because we are both in this stage of the competition,” Isabirye warned. “In recent years, we saw Proline, a Big League team, win the Uganda Cup, so we must approach this game with full commitment.”
With URA FC trailing in the league title race, the Uganda Cup presents a crucial opportunity for silverware this season.
To reach this stage, the Tax Collectors edged Kalongo United 2-1 on penalties in Agago and secured a 1-0 victory over Mabira TC in Kasese, courtesy of a Moses Aliro strike.
