URA FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Jimmy Kintu Mwera as the club’s new Head Coach on a two-year contract with an option for renewal.
Joining him on the technical bench is Godfrey Magoba (Christian), who has been appointed First Assistant Coach on a two-year renewable contract.
The duo arrives from Express FC, where they served in the same respective roles, bringing with them a wealth of experience, modern coaching expertise, and a proven track record in player development and team management.
A Coach Built on Modern Football Principles
Kintu joins the Tax Collectors as one of the country’s most respected young coaches, having accumulated over a decade of coaching experience across youth, women’s, university, and senior football.
A holder of the prestigious CAF A Coaching License, Kintu has earned recognition for his strong emphasis on tactical analysis, player development, team leadership, and modern possession-based football. His coaching philosophy blends structured build-up play, high-intensity pressing, intelligent transition football, and a commitment to developing players both on and off the pitch.
His technical strengths include match planning, performance analysis, squad development, and the implementation of contemporary training methodologies aimed at maximizing player potential and team performance.
Proven Winner
Throughout his coaching journey, Kintu has consistently delivered success.
Among his notable achievements, he guided Uganda Christian University to the University Football League title in 2019 and the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUSU) Championship in 2022.
He also enjoyed an outstanding spell at St. Noa Girls FC, where he won multiple trophies, including the FUFA Women Elite League title, secured promotion to the FUFA Women Super League, captured the FEASSA Girls Football Championship and USSSA Girls Football Championship, and guided the club to the CAF African Schools Football Championship finals in Ghana after winning the CECAFA Schools Championship.
Kintu has further gained valuable experience beyond Uganda’s borders, having coached Nairobi City Stars in Kenya and later served as a Football Development Consultant at Magnet Soccer Academy in Tanzania, where he helped design youth development structures and modern coaching programmes.
Strengthening the Technical Team
Joining Kintu is experienced coach Godfrey Magoba, who takes up the role of First Assistant Coach.
Magoba is also a CAF A Licensed coach and brings extensive experience in professional football, youth development, women’s football, and university sports. His coaching journey has seen him serve in various leadership roles, including Head Coach at Uganda Christian University Women’s Team, She Maroons FC, and Entebbe FC, while also contributing significantly to football development programmes both locally and internationally.
His expertise in player development, technical planning, and high-performance environments will further strengthen the club’s technical department.
The appointment of Kintu and Magoba marks the beginning of URA FC’s technical team restructuring ahead of the new season. The club remains committed to strengthening its backroom staff and will announce additional members of the technical team in due course as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.
Furthermore, the appointments underline URA FC’s commitment to building a strong technical foundation capable of driving sustainable success while nurturing and developing talent in line with the club’s long-term vision.
