URA Ladies FC sealed a historic milestone on Saturday evening after overcoming Jinja United Women FC 1-0 in the FUFA Women Elite League final at Muteesa II Stadium.
The victory confirmed the Tax Collectors as champions of the 2025/26 campaign, capping off an outstanding season in which the side earned promotion to the FUFA Women Super League and finished the league as the best team in the division.
The decisive moment arrived in the 30th minute when Belinda Hope Nabawanuka latched onto an opportunity and fired a low effort beyond the advancing goalkeeper to give URA the lead. Her strike proved enough to separate the two promoted sides in a closely contested final.
Both finalists had already booked their places in next season’s top flight before the championship match. URA Ladies earned promotion after finishing top of the Elizabeth Group, while Jinja United Women FC secured their place in the Super League by leading the Victoria Group at the end of the regular season, in line with FUFA competition regulations.
The evening also belonged to the Tax Collectors in the individual accolades. Vanessa Namazzi was named the league’s Most Valuable Player, Esther Nantongo claimed the Best Goalkeeper award, and URA Ladies received the Fair Play Award, underlining the club’s excellence both on and off the pitch.
Saturday’s triumph completes a memorable campaign for URA Ladies and signals an exciting return to the top tier as the team prepares for the 2026/27 FUFA Women Super League season, which is expected to begin in October.
